...presidential historian Doug Wead will be among the speakers at a gathering of libertarian Republicans who support Ron Paul’s Campaign for Liberty.
The gathering, Rally for the Republic, is being billed as “the convention of the constitutional wing of the Republican Party,” and will be held beginning Aug. 31 across the street from the GOP convention in Minneapolis.
Wead, a New York Times best-selling author and former special assistant to President George H.W. Bush, has been credited with coining the phrase “compassionate conservative.”
Other speakers will include political pundit Tucker Carlson, and former congressman Barry Goldwater Jr.
According to its Web site, the mission of the Campaign for Liberty “is to promote and defend the great American principles of individual liberty, constitutional government, sound money, free markets, and a noninterventionist foreign policy, by means of educational and political activity.”
THAT Ron Paul has other concerns — his wife Carol was admitted to a Houston hospital on Monday and underwent three surgeries.
Paul spokesman Jesse Benton would not specify why she had entered the hospital, except to say that “she has had several abdominal surgeries,” The Associated Press reported.
Benton said on Thursday, “She has given us some big scares over the past 48 hours, but things appear to be improving and there is room for cautious optimism.” | | Remove This Ad By Registering. Join Our Hillary For President Forum For Free. Sponsored Links:

| | | I am a member of the Campaign for Liberty. The website just had an overhaul, and is now running as planned. The website started as just a small blog where other members could comment on things that the CFL posted. But now, you can blog your own stories on your own pages. Though, the organization leaders do post the main page blogs and stories, we now have access to many other components of the CFL website. I truely believe that if more people knew of the Campaign for Liberty, it wouldn't take much time to turn congress and the White House around. And that the majority of new comers to Congress would be members. In my little town, we have an ex-representitive, Fred Head, who was beat out by a neocon a few elections back. He is also a member of the CFL. Fred is a life long Democrat, and told me that the Democrats have gone too far into outer space. Not left. Not right. But into outerspace. I told him I think the NEOCONS and Democrats are on the same space shuttle. We both had a big laugh, and parted ways. But, after thinking about that conversation with Fred, it gave me a good feeling about the chances of the CFL taking off. Because if a truck driver who is very conservative, and a lawyer who is a democrat can both agree on the same major issues, then almost everyone in between us can also agree, that the federal government has gotten too big for it's borrowed britches. And that major changes need to come about. I wouldn't mind if the Government controled the oil and refineries. I wouldn't mind if the government took control over health care. As long as we had legitimate people doing it. There are some major advantages of certain things not being in the free market. But the major concern of all Americans, is that the elected officials we have today, are not doing what they were elected to to. And that is the major reason for the Campaign for Liberty. |

| | | The price of gasoline and health care should be determined on the free market. Who knows more about the worth of these goods and services than the oil companies, doctors, and consumers? Arrogant politicians and bureaucrats think they know more than the free market about what the prices of gasoline and health care should be. |

The problem with it, is that the Federal Government is backing the oil companies. Instead of regulating the price, they are allowing the oil companies to charge what ever they want to charge. The Democrats put an amendment into a bill a few months ago, that would have made it legal for the Federl Governemnt to sue the oil compnaies for price gouging. Which to me sounded very legitimate. And almost as if the government was trying to get the big hand of oil, out from around it's neck. But as democrats always do, they had to go and throw a tax increase in it, and the bill was blocked by the Republicans. After it was over. I thought to myself "Them dard democrats and republicans are just playing games with us" They knew it wouldn't pass. And they knew there would be enough votes to block it.
