Thanks Mastertech, it needed to be said.

I haven't said anything negative about Ron Paul throughout the primary season because I knew very little about him and because a couple of posters on this site whose opinions I respect appeared to be backing him. But it's time to give it a rest. Paul backers are still calling in to talk radio shows preaching about the virtues of Ron Paul.

It's over!!! He can't win!!! See ya in four years!!!

Yup, no way he can make it. I don't know why he just doesn't go ahead and announce he's out. Thanks for the link as I was wondering if he would...I figured he wouldn't, but you never know. See ya, Ron Paul, at least ya tried.

He has been circling the drain for sometime now, and now he may have also hurt his chances at remaining in congress, now that the home town crowd has really looked close at some of his positions.

I made essentially the same comment to a group of friends recently. You would have thought I slapped someones Mama!

There was much indignation and commentary from them about his "grassroots support!"

I just don't see it.

Me too! AND, I see Ron Paul signs up all over...in yards and on the sides of roads! AND, they are putting more up, not less! Weird. I don't know how he can get anywhere now, but I reckon it's just people trying to stand up for who they believe in?

I don't think Ron Paul really believed he had a chance in the first place. That's why he's still in the race. He's trying to build a grass roots movement for the public to take back government. He plans a big demonstration on Washington in May.

I've been taking a closer look at those great big blue and white Ron Paul signs and I've noticed that all of his avid supporters live on well traveled highways.

I live in a small country town and take several different routes to work in Kansas City, some of them on two lane blacktops through farm country. I've never noticed a Ron Paul sign of any size on the back roads I travel though I've seen signs for most of the other candidates. I believe his signs are part of his campaign strategy to get name recognition on the cheap. Just like his billboard on I35 where all of the major highways meet.

Like I've said before, when a Ron Paul supporter calls into local talk radio, they tend to quote his billboard promises and little more. Those promises are unattainable and serve only to draw gullible commuters aboard his band wagon. If politically uninformed people are what he wants as a base, so be it. It's working for Obama. But would that qualify as "grass roots support?"

"Those promises are unattainable and serve only to draw gullible commuters aboard his band wagon. If politically uninformed people are what he wants as a base, so be it. "

At this point, they are unattainable, but as the grassroots grow, at some point in the future they may be attainable. Remember, socialism was once a grassroots movement in this country until the Democrat Party adopted it.

Ron Paul doesn't want uninformed people as a base. That's why he's trying to educate them, unlike the other candidates who prefer to pull the wool over their supporters eyes or prefer their supporters stay ignorant of how harmful their policies are.
