| | Looks like I was right with my original assumption, of Herb now "the aging Hippie!"
Sorry, I 'missed' all the drugger (false reality) Hippies and their communes (more false utopia that didnt last) and see you now Herb as more of a 'naive wannabe,' but unlike me, I chose to do all the right things and contribute to American society, not rebel against it...God will "separate the sheep from the goats"...and aka, goats are by nature rebellious. Wont waste any more of either of our time...Maranatha (for MY destiny, and your judgment...)

| | Sorry, Herb, if I appear 'gruff' at times; but, I was raised as a 'tough lover' and NOT being a 'coddler.' Nor am I an 'enabler!
Raised in a military family, was in Cub & Boy Scouts, and sports (baseball, football, wrestling) and then 4 yrs regular service. Raised my 3 kids the same way---daughter was in TX Army Nat Guard and now the Christian wife and mother of 3 boys, another son currently in the Navy....all 3 kids have great spirits, are disciplined, and are 'nice' ppl!
So the seed that "I" have sewn in them has paid off...and I have NO regrets.

| | First of all, back in the 60's I wasn't a Jesus Freak like to writer of the article that I posted. Back in those days I was a redneck Christian just like you are today. I even had a bumper sticker on my car that said, "Make a hippy happy, give him dirt!" Since giving up Christianity, I have become more tolerant of other people. I posted the testimonial to show you that we non-Christians can be happy without Christ in our lives contrary to what you believe. Go to "exchristian.net" and you will see plenty of other testimonials of people whose lives have become enriched after giving up that abominable religion. Also, you don't need to raise your kids as Christians for them to turn out right. Look at my 21 year old son who's never used drugs, stolen anything, or gotten into trouble of any kind. I'm sorry for your kids if they've grown up to be intolerant religious bigots like you. |

Better go back to smoking your 'mellow yellow,' "cant we all just get along" la la land of humanistic utopia non-reality.
Your typical 'good intentions' of tolerant social liberty, "go ahead with bestiality, just leave MY dog alone," etc. are the typical values of 'self-serving pseudo-righteousness' that makes the red-blooded Americans who built this country, just plain sick!
Here's another scripture about what God thinks of your relative morality, "There is s way that seems right to man, but the end there of is death."

| | One more thing...
BTW, you 'tolerant social Liberal,' who decries judging ppl, have inferred/called me a racist because of my take on Obama last year (altho as a mil dependent I had many Black friends, even a Black girlfriend in college, as I reminded you), now calling me a 'redneck' (funny how nobody else has put that moniker on me in my life!), and now a bigot (cause I dont enable or approve of worthless Hippies?!).
You made a bad decision 37 yrs ago, and now have to live with it by not admitting your mistake.
I hope that you adult son will be open to other beliefs during his life, and that a fallen & faithless father and likewise faithless Muslim mother wont program him for destruction....as in scripture, "the sins of the father are visited as sins upon the son."

Originally Posted by Herb Schaffler Jam, I apologize for implying that you're a racist and calling you a redneck. I was obviously wrong on that. | Since you still apparently feel that I am (and my kids will be) bigots, let me remind you about the 60's Hippies and Woodstock!
Hippies were 'drugged based,' anti-establishment anarchists, who not only lived promiscuous, non-responsible lives, taking drugs while the girls were pregnant (how many mentally limited/ADHD are struggling in life now--if still alive!?), sleeping around often unprotected (only 2 STD's back then, not the 30 we have now plus AIDS), often the girls parents raised the kids, called names & stoned our returning troops from Viet Nam..etc.
Woodstock was a pig sty of humanity, feces & urine everywhere, stoned bands and audience, and over hyped...saw the special on it again last month and it was STILL a falsely romanticized, but sickening event!
I served from 64-68, joined at 17 YO right out of HS, passing on a room reserved for me at TX Tech, and B4 the Viet Nam war was unpopular. Came 'home' in 68, following RFK & MLK's assassinations, and wondering if I should have stayed in the service, not identifying with the other youth that I went to college with under the G.I. bill!
I went to one anti-war rally while at college circa 1970, but just stood in solidarity with my fellow vets attending college. We knew the war wasnt being fought to win, and mistrusted our leadership in actually winning the war!
Since then, I had a B-I-L (former Marine Nam Vet--teletype op--not seeing action) and his wife, my S-I-L living as hippies in an old trailer on the OR coast. They worked under the table, didnt pay any taxes, but were 1st in line at the emergency room when they needed medical attention...smoked a lot of pot (& sold it!) as well as taking other drugs (LSD, etc). When my wife and I asked them (in their late 50's at the time), what they were going to do when they got older and had no SS to collect---their answer was "we are in denial and not talking about that."
I have no respect for Hippies, they are drudges on society, and have helped ruin our mores. If you think that I'm a bigot for my experiences and feeling about 'human beings' such as them than so be it---I dont apologize....

| | | Jam, I'm also very opposed to drudges on society. I'm am very opposed to the welfare state. I called you a religious bigot because that's what monotheism tends to do to people. They are so sure they have a monopoly on the truth, that they become intolerant of other people and other beliefs. I don't want that for myself. I want to be accepting of everybody regardless of what their beliefs are. I know you're happy with your beliefs and have no intention of trying to persuade you to believe otherwise. I only defended my position because you attacked it. My position is a respectable position because it's based on objective logic and critical thinking. |

Sorry, Herb, but your prejudices and error of 'critical thinking' have blinded you and affected your judgment (via your 'logic') and your mistakes of the past 37 yrs of a faithless existence..."the wisdom of man is but foolishness in the sight of God."

Jews don't think Jesus was a prophet, but the Muslims do.
The quote put in Jesus' mouth just shows how ridiculous the Christian religion is. Why does God play hide and seek and not only expects us to accept his existence on faith, but also expects us to accept Chrisianity on faith with the punishment for not doing so, to send us to an eternity in hell? This shows a very foolish god and a very tyrannical god. How can a truly loving person embrace such a monster? People who accept Chrisianity either are ignorant and accept it on a knee jerk reactionary basis or they are too weak and afraid to stand on their own two feet and need an imaginary father in the sky to take care of them or they have a fear of death and need to believe there is some power greater than them to work his magic and keep them from dying. | |
