Welcome, uralrider! No, they haven't learned from slick and Americans are EXTREMELY apathetic STILL. Americans only care about American idol, britney spears' cooter, and their SUVs. It is pathetic!

Hey uralrider, please send me some DNA from Margaret Thatcher and Winston Churchill. I'm trying to recreate the conservative movement.

I've got DNA from Winston Churchill according to some relatives of mine, but I don't claim him. He was a warmonger and that's what Republicans need to get away from if they are to save their party.

I copied about seven pages of Winston Churchill quotes from a website. A very intelligent man who loved America more than most Americans do.

Of course, you and Neville Chamberlain might disagree!!!

In 1920, Winston Churchill advocated using mustard gas on Iraqis who were protesting Great Britain's control over them. Also, Winston Churchill bombed German civilians 3 months before Germany bombed British citizens.

Regarding Neville Chanberlain: He unneededly declared war on Germany. At the time, Hitler was just trying to take Danzig back, which was taken away from Germany at Versalles. Hitler had no intention of ever going to war against Great Britain. He viewed Great Britain, the US, and Germany as the 3 powers of the future. He believed Great Britain should continue to control Africa and Asia and that the US should continue to control
the American continents and that Germany should control Eastern Europe and Russia. One reason Churchill bombed German civilians was because Hitler was moving east in his war on Russia. Churchill in his lust for war wanted to get Hitler's attention and get him to refocus on Great Britain. Churchill, Roosevelt, and Hitler were all three warmongers who didn't have their citizens' best interests in mind. Read the new book "Human Smoke". It's really enlightening. Hitler and his regime of course were wrong in the Holocaust, but lots of Jewish lives could have been saved if FDR and other countries had eased their immigration quotas. The author of "Human Smoke" even quotes Eleanor Rossevelt suggesting that she was anti-semitic.

My god, that's deep! I'm not even going to try too hard to argue with you on that one, mate.
Not withstanding the new information you've given here that I wasn't aware of, I think Mr Churchill was the right man for the right time. You can argue all you want about Mr Hitler's intentions, but do you truly think he would have stopped? From what I know of history around that period I understand he wanted to control Europe and the Near East (Russia) as a first objective. Once that was under control who knows what he would have done - especially with the science and manpower base he would have. Even America wouldn't have been safe - Germany had almost developed their own nuclear weapon by the end of the war and they had already proved they could fly to the US and back.

At the end of the day I think myself lucky (sort of - England is going down the pan with a Labour government in charge, but that's another story) that so many people stood up to be counted and stopped a megalomaniac from trying to control most of the civilised World. My Grandads included, one died, one survived.

Good info, though, I'll go and buy the book, sounds interesting.
