| I'm hoping that the common working man will eventually see the reality that would be Universal Health Care. I've spoken to many co-workers and friends who are politically naive and simply vote the sound bites. When they even suggest that maybe it's time that we had Universal Health Care, I will ask questions that make them rethink that position, if not change their minds.
If they have insurance through their employer, I ask them if they think that their contribution for Universal Health Care, thru taxes, would be more or less than they're paying now. Most catch my drift right away.
If they're still unconvinced I ask them how they would want the Universal Health Care System set up. Would they like it to look like the V.A, Postal Service, Social Security, or ConRail. When you beat them with the stick, the carrot doesn't look so appetizing any more.
The average worker can be made to understand that it would not be to their benefit. If most of them can be convinced, Hillary has no prayer. Try it! The only people who are unreachable are the lazy bast*rds that never pay taxes and the lear jet liberals with millions to spare. |
