Smile Romney Pulls Even

In spite of the endorsement of John McCain by Florida's governor this weekend, the latest Rasmussen Poll shows that Romney has gained 5 points and pulled even with John McCain.

ROMNEY 31% - MCCAIN 31% - RUDY 16%

No mention of Huckabee.

Looks like it might be over for Giuliani.

I read an article in "hillaryproject.com" this morning that points out that McCain would be the strongest candidate against Hillary. The polls also show that. If that's the case, I would just as soon McCain win from that standpoint alone.

Herb, I've heard the media talk about the Republican Party being in turmoil and I just don't see it. With the exception of Ron Paul, I don't see any of the remaining candidates having a problem with anybody the Democrats throw at us. Historically, only 2 senators have ever won the presidency. They have two senators and an ex-senator vs. our senator, 2 governors and the mayor of the largest city in the country. Our only senator has a military background which is a plus in wartime. None of their's do. They have nobody running with executive experience. We have three. And if I may be politically incorrect, we've never had an African American or female president.

The Democrats have all promised to raise taxes and will grant amnesty to the illegals. Both things that a majority of Americans are against. I think if we let this play out, it probably won't be the nail-biter people expect.

"No mention of Huckabee."

It's interesting that the poll didn't mention Huckabee. In that poll Huckabee moved into 3rd place in Florida at 14% with Guiliani dropping to 4th with 13%. LeBoutillier was correct when he said that Guiliani's loss of all the early primaries would seal his doom. He was wrong to put all his eggs in the Florida basket.

I saw an earlier poll that had Huckabee in third place but this poll had Rudy at 16% which is 2 points higher than you show the Huckster. I think Huckabee is doing a slow fade and will be a non-entity come Tuesday. I'm curious as to how Rudy will do. Quite a few Floridians voted early, back when Rudy was the favorite. Too many ex-New Yorkers living in Florida for him to totally flop.

His strategy would have been more sound had he at least done some campaining in the other primary states. Outta sight, outta mind.
