McCain Now First Place in Latest Pew Poll

McCain is now first place and leading Giuliani in the latest Pew poll. One good thing, if McCain is the nominee, he does the best against Hillary. He is beating her by 5 points in a recent poll. The same poll shows her beating Guiliani by 1 point. One thing concerns me about McCain is his age. People may feel he's too old to serve out two terms.

My biggest concern about McCain is amnesty for illegals. I hope that he learned his lesson and would not dare to try it again as president. I accept his new position, for the most part, but he should have known before the vote that it wasn't going to fly.

On the other hand, he'd be feared worse than Bush or Reagan in the middle east. We need somebody who is not afraid to go ape poop over there if we have to. I'd go for Ron Paul over McCain except Paul seems to be a bigger disaster than Carter was with the middle east.

If Hillary is nominated, then from the standpoint that McCain does the best against Hillary in the polls, then I would just as soon he gets the nomination although I'm no big fan of him. My big concern about McCain is that his age will be used against him and could get him defeated.

Maybe he will ask John Kerry to be his running mate and we can just hold our noses and pull a lever. I'm not buying this McCain surge.

All of these Republican candidates seemed to have put their eggs in one basket hoping for the bump that follows. Huckabee put everything into Iowa, McCain in New Hampshire, Thompson in South Carolina and Rudy in Florida. Romney and Ron Paul are the only two that have actually campaigned in every state. Nobody has won a second consecutive primary.

I don't see McCain's message resonating in South Carolina and pick him for a poor fourth place showing. If Rudy pulls off his coup in Florida, he will be getting his bump just in time for Super Tuesday and he will look like a genius. McCain will then be sent packing, unable to match bucks with Rudy and Mitt.

It's no telling who'll end up on top in the Republican race. I just hope it's somebody that can beat the witch if she ends up with the nomination.
