Cool Lieberman Endorses McCain

I have said before that John McCain was toast, but the man won't go away. I like John McCain and Joe Lieberman as probably the two most honest politicians in Washington today. But I would no more trust John McCain to carry the Republican Banner than I would Joe Lieberman. The fact that McCain's endorsements are coming from liberal democratic bastions says it all.

PeroWCheney is always looking for a good independent team. Well, here you go, you can find none better than this. I'd bet they'd pull more votes than Ross Perot and John Anderson (boy am I getting old) put together.

Who would they draw the most votes from, Republican or Democrat? Democrats wouldn't support them because they're too hawkish, Republicans wouldn't support them because they wouldn't agree with a lot of their domestic program.

They both have name recognition and are both known to be very honest men. Lieberman was snubbed by his party with most of the big names endorsing his rival, yet he won handily. McCain gave George Bush a run for his money back in 2000 and is apparently still a favorite of many. Lieberman was a vice presidential candidate and McCain has been seriously considered as one by both parties.

Who they would take the most votes from is anybody's guess. If people get nervous enough about MoveOn and the far left, and disgusted enough with what the Republicans have to offer, they could very well win. Throw an independent bid by Ron Paul into the mix and anything could happen.

"Throw an independent bid by Ron Paul into the mix and anything could happen."

The Libertarian Party offered Ron Paul to run as a Libertarian again if he loses the Republican nomination. He turned them down. He says he has no intention of running on a 3rd party ticket. I believe if there are any serious 3rd party tickets, it will be Bloomberg. Lou Dobbs is another possibility, but I don't think he would do as well as Bloomberg.

I don't know Herb, Ron Paul's socking away a whole lot of money. $6M in one weekend? They all make statements like that. Nobody is ever interested in being vice-president either until it's offered to them.

But hey, Bloomberg, Dobbs, whoever, this could turn into a four way race.

Ron Paul says he plans to spend every bit of it. I assume he means every bit of it on the Republican primaries.

When you can raise that kind of money over night, why quit?
