The only time I ever heard of firearms confiscation during an emergency or major disaster was during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Vitter is a Republican from Louisiana and I'll take a wild guess that Obama saw the bill more as racially biased rather than constitutionally unsound. You underestimate Obama's ability to see everything in black or white.

Note this statement near the bottom of page two. Not only does it sound scary, but it gives the government unlimited power and latitude.

Unfortunately, this is a principle that we are already following. Look at the cities that already prohibit guns. I don't agree with the above stated principle. I believe the 2nd Amendment trumps local laws.

And it's one of the few times that a liberal Democrat will defer to states rights. In reality, legalized abortion is more about states rights than killing babies. Try telling that to a liberal.

Herb I gotta say I was impressed that you conceeded that the American Hunters and Shooters Assn. was a phony organization. I would never expect that from a non-thinking liberal (who wants to get Obama elected). So I guess I have to puth you on my list of intelligent liberals who actually do think for themselves. (BTW ... it's a short list ....)

Here's my read on Obama and the #2. He REALLY DOES want to confiscate/outlaw/register/regulate all guns so that the government can eventually confiscate them and then we'll all live happily together (unarmed) since only the bad guys will still have guns. Hmmmmm .... might want to think about that.

And, BTW, I believe Obama WILL be the dem's nominee. I can see no way Billary is gonna get it. It will all happen before the end of June when Howie Dean tells the supers to S _ _ _ or get off the pot. Guaranteed. End of June.

However, based on Obamas exponentially increasing negatives, John McCain will be the next president of the United States. Trust me on this !

How do you know that, Scottfree? Do you have any proof of that or is that just an unfounded assumption? Unfounded assumptions don't reveal a great amount of intelligence.
