What the GOP should do....NOW

To me, it doesn't matter what the GOP does, I'm a Libertarian so, unless they run B.J. Lawson or someone like him, I'm gonna always vote Libertarian. But, if the GOP wants to return to any sort of majority, they need to:
1. Return to true conservatism
2. Stop saying "What a dangerous world we live in"
3. Get a grip on what our foreign policy cost
4. Realize that the Constitution was written to restrain the government. Not the people
5. Realize that the size of our government is too big and too expencive. Most people can take care of themselves. (health care, education etc etc)
6. Stop trying to regulate everyone. Some regulation is ok, but for the most part, like for the trucking industry, we aren't trying to screw anyone, we're just trying to make a living.
7. Stop taxing us so much for every thing we do.


I know, this seems like dreaming, and alot libertarian. But, the constitution doesn't allow the government to have this much impact on our lives.

The Republicans definitely need to rethink their foreign policy and the Democrats as well. We can't afford to continue to try to be the policeman of the world.

I certainly hope that Palin doesn't represent the future of the Republican Party. If Obama screws up the economy even more than it is now, anybody that the Republican Party runs can win. I just hope it isn't a dummy like Palin. Palin's militarism and social conservatism are the two areas that are turning off people to the Republican Party. I wish the Republican Party would go back to being the party of fiscal conservatism. I hope they don't interpret the election as being a mandate for socialism. If the Republican Party goes back to their fiscal conservative principles and if Barack and the Democrats bring about a further decline in the economy, the Republican Party has the potential to win back some seats in the 2010 election because the majority of the public is center-right.

I've been blogging at the [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. about a national Conservative party. I think it would be a great idea. That way, people like John Cornyn, Trent Lott and other neocons couldn't continue to call themselves conservatives. And people who are sick to death of the wars and big government, can still vote conservative. Only they'd actually be voting for true conservatives. And not the neo-conservatives (aka closet liberals)...

It sounds good to me. Maybe then, more people will learn what true conservatism is. True conservatism isn't about glorying in war like Rush, Palin, Huckabee, Hannity, and the neocons. True conservatism is more in the spirit of Robert Taft and Russel Kirk.
