| The 2nd Amendment states, and I quote, "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." (the one ratified. the one in the House and Senate has an extra comma).
This is simple. It means that citizens can own weapons (firearms, knives, etc...) and also to create a legal militia to defend against invasion, defend against crimes against yourself, hunting, recreation, and so the gov't knows this: There is a 2nd amendment in case the gov't forgets the 1st!!!
Now, separation of church and states means that the Gov't can establish official religions, give preferential treatment to one, or make laws abridging the free practice thereof. They also can't make any laws saying that you can't pray in school, wear religious programs where ever you want, or anything else.
But that is the problem. There are many people who will fight against having a cross in a, say military cemetery, or anywhere other than your property. Or cities, where, not to offend anyone, refer to the Easter Bunny as the Holiday bunny, or places where you can't say Merry Christmas, or places that will not allow one to wear a cross, but it is ok to where something from any other religion.
