Do You Think America Is Ready For A Black President?

THOUGHTS FROM ENGLAND...

After viewing recent news broadcasts from America, the question needs to be asked.

Is there still a deep-seated racial bias in some areas of America? IS your country ready for Mr Obama to be President?

I think there are still an awful lot of people in America who think that coloured people are inferior to them. This extends to ALL aspects of American society, it isn't aimed specifically at the white population.

What do Latin Americans think of African Americans? African Americans of Native Indian Americans? EVERYBODY about Muslim Americans?

I also worry that there are white extremists idiots out there who believe they are morally, physically and mentally superior to everyone else and would take it as their God given duty to assassinate Mr Obama - suicidally if needed?

But I still don't want to see Clingonton bird in power. Please.

As citizens of America, what do you think?

I think there still is alot of racial bigotry in the country. I'm a white collar worker, but I have worked out in the field with blue collar whites in the past and I can tell you there is alot of bigotry among them. I think that came into play last night in Hillary's 10 point victory over Obama. She had been pandering to them over the past few weeks with her strong foreign policy rhetoric, her taking shots of whiskey, and talking about shooting a duck in Arkansas and learning to shoot in Scranton, PA. In spite of her Annie Oakley come lately comments, when it came to gun rights, Obama voted for the pro gun rights Vitter Amendment and Hillary voted against it.

Racial bias and bigotry extends across all colors and ethnic groups in this country.

smottbore has it right. Racial bigotry is a mindset shared by people of all colors. Some people just don't want to get along with people outside their culture and some are just raised to be bigots. For the most part though, I believe most people can get along with anybody on a daily basis.

I agree, Mrs Clingonton has been shooting off some really low blows in this election. Even the media in the UK are picking up on the dirtiness of her campaign.

There were several interviews with "typical" Americans on the TV over here yesterday. Good ol' boys the lot! The main topic of their conversation was if Mr Obama got in they'd try to assassinate him...

The only thing currently happening is Mr McCain is laughing all the way to the White House.

there are definitely still WAY to many bigots in this country... I think having a President like Obama, however, could help alleviate that. At the very least, itll make us come of FAR better to other countries...

Oh Brother!!! Obama has a track record of embracing radicals, race baiters and anti-semites. Hardly the kind of individual that will bring this country together.

As for coming off better to other countries? Yes, they're all praying to Allah for an Obama victory.

"As for coming off better to other countries? Yes, they're all praying to Allah for an Obama victory."

I can understand why. They certainly don't want a continuance of the belligerant Bush in office which they will get with McCain.

"Oh Brother!!! Obama has a track record of embracing radicals, race baiters and anti-semites. Hardly the kind of individual that will bring this country together."

He embraces everybody. J.C. Watts said that he's not a scarry liberal. He said he was somebody who would reach across the aisle and Republicans can work with him. This is what we need rather than somebody polarizing like Hillary who will promote continued division.

Some uniter - he sits in some church for over twenty years listening to a racist rant on and on. What he needs to do now is to "unite" the bitter Americans with the elitists like himself.
