McCain says he could lose over war issue

Let me be the first to say..Ron Paul told you so. And I hope your happy with Obama or Hillary. McCain sealed the deal for the Democrats. so we either get someone so corrupt (Hillary). Or one with no experience and hasn't voted about 70% of the time (Obama). And just think, all the Presidential powers that Dubya sign for himself, will go to either one of these.
BTW, someone asked a good question the other day.
"What has Obama accomplished?"

By LIZ SIDOTI, Associated Press Writer 30 minutes ago

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio - John McCain said Monday that to win the White House he must convince a war-weary country that U.S. policy in Iraq is succeeding. If he can't, "then I lose. I lose," the Republican said. He quickly backed off that remark.

"Let me not put it that stark," the likely GOP nominee told reporters on his campaign bus. "Let me just put it this way: Americans will judge my candidacy first and foremost on how they believe I can lead the county both from our economy and for national security. Obviously, Iraq will play a role in their judgment of my ability to handle national security."
"If I may, I'd like to retract 'I'll lose.' But I don't think there's any doubt that how they judge Iraq will have a direct relation to their judgment of me, my support of the surge," McCain added. "Clearly, I am tied to it to a large degree."
The five-year-old Iraq conflict already is emerging as a fault line in the general election, with the Arizona senator calling for the U.S. military to continue its mission while his Democratic opponents urge speedy withdrawal.
While most Republicans still back the war, many independents and Democrats don't. That presents a significant challenge for McCain and an opportunity for either Barack Obama or Hillary Rodham Clinton.
McCain acknowledged the war will be "a significant factor in how the American people judge my candidacy."
The lead Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, McCain has consistently backed the war although he's long criticized the way it was waged after the Saddam Hussein's fall. He was an original proponent of President Bush's troop-increase strategy, having called for more forces on the ground for several years. Last spring, McCain went all in on the war by embracing it as Bush took heat for boosting troop levels to quell violence.

Yup, McCain WILL lose over the war issue. we are screwed...Obama is the best pick over Hillary OR McCain, IMHO. Ron Paul is simply done. Sigh.

I agree with you Wise One. Obama is the best choice of the three, but it's too bad he's such a leftist statist. Because of our choices, I really expect there will be a major populist/conservative/libertarian type candidate that will run. Some people have suggested the possibility of Bob Barr running on a Libertarian/Constitution joint ticket.

A new AP poll shows Obama ahead of Hillary by 3 points nationally. Pertaining to the general election, Hillary leads McCain 48 to 43, but Obama's lead over McCain is 51 to 41. A recent Zogby poll showed McCain with a 50 to 38 lead over Hillary, but stated that Obama would beat McCain, but they didn't say by how much.

The new CBS poll shows Obama ahead of Hillary nationwide among Democrat voters 50 to 38. He would defeat McCain by 50 to 38, but Hillary would tie McCain at 46 to 46.

A polling outfit called "Decision Analyst" shows Obama winning in both Texas and Ohio. They show Obama ahead 57 to 43 in Texas and ahead 54 to 46 in Ohio. They claim that they more carefully select demographic compositions than other pollsters. I certainly hope they're right. Maybe after March 4th, we will have seen the last of her for awhile unless she wants to keep making a fool of herself by fighting to the bitter end by trying to get Michigan and Florida seated and continuing to try for super delegates and even try to get pledged delegates away from Obama.
