At my last company, I could drive over 200,000 miles per year solo, and no one ever said anything. When DOT would come into the office to do an audit, there was a fat check waiting for them, and nothing was said. The company hired only good, experienced drivers who did their job, worked hard, and were all pretty carefull about their logs. ( in the way of making them "look" good") But when we got baught out, they started highering every jake-leg with a CDL. Tickets and accidents went up, and we became very noticeable with the DOT. So, after that. They started monitoring our logs and tracking our trucks. So going from Southern California to Hunts' Point NY in 2.5 days was over with. THey put an end to it. Which would take me from $1,500 per week (bring Home) to less than $1,000 per week. And they didn't stop there. Now, all haz-mat carriers have to get a Federal Background check to haul haz-mat. Even our returning soldiers and veterans. It's total BS. They treat us like a bunch of terrorist now. |
