| Who's a RINO? So, I've been hearing the right claim that this person or that is a Republican In Name Only. I don't understand the criteria used. It seems to me that the Bush administration is the epitome of what a Republican should be. Wedge issues, unwise tax cuts, belligerent, dangerous foreign policy, etc. A better Reagan than Reagan. But, he's a RINO. Why? What's he done that isn't Republican? Is it just that the inevitable outcome of the Republican agenda is finally rearing it's head? That doesn't make him a RINO.
Huckabee's a RINO, Guiliani is a RINO, everyone's a RINO. Who wasn't?
Everyone's going to say that Reagan wasn't a RINO. But, his policy decisions were very similar to those being made today. The only difference was that he was able to push off the effects until Bill Clinton could fix the country for him. He installed the Taliban, funded Iran, sold weapons to the death squads in our backyard, caused a skyrocketing deficit, introduced the moral majority and the attacks and wedge issues that they brought with them. Just because it took decades before all the effects were felt doesn't make his decisions any different from those being made today.
So, why is GWBush a RINO and not Reagan? Who was the last real conservative in National politics? Are there any real conservatives on the national level today?

P.S. I'm honestly interested, this isn't just a troll. If you asked me who is a real Democrat today, I'd say Al Gore, Barak Obama, Joe Biden, and Barbara Boxer. You may not like these people, but you're Republicans, so I'm not surprised. Democrats don't like these people either, but that's our pathos. |
