The people of Connecticut banned together to save their well-liked senator who was being thrown under the bus by his own party. But I bet they'll vote overwhelmingly for those who threw him under the bus come election time. |

| | | Hillary is no conservative Democrat. ADA rated her as high as any other Democrat in the Senate including Teddy Kennedy. She's has fooled lots of people into believing she's more moderate than she really is. | | Remove This Ad By Registering. Join Our Hillary For President Forum For Free. Sponsored Links: | |

| | | Seriously speaking Herb, Hillary is the most conservative of the top three and I suspect she would govern closer to the middle than either Obama or Edwards. It took the loss of both houses of congress for Slick Willie to figure it out and I don't believe Hillary would want to see a repeat of that.
In my opinion, MoveOn.org sees this election as a last ditch grab at power for the socialist sixties generation. Bill's scandals screwed it up for them even though it was his scandals that created them. Hillary is power hungry and willing to capitulate a little to get and maintain power. MoveOn wants an overall socialist upheaval and doesn't like Hillary because she is more interested in herself than in the cause.
This is not to say that she's a conservative, but that she believes she and Slick are bigger than MoveON and that social reform can take place at her and Slick's leisure. If she should win, (God Forbid!!!) she'll be right. |

| | | Bay Buchanan in her recent book on Hillary has a different take. She believes Hillary is running as a centrist to get elected, but after getting elected, we will see how liberal she really is. If she is so conservative, why did ADA give her a near 100% liberal rating? I always hear her talking about government solutions to everything. Does she ever talk about turning things over to the private sector? Does she ever talk about cutting spending? She is a leftist statist and nothing else. Sometimes people consider her a centrist because of her hawkish stands on foreign policy, but that gives me one more reason not to like her. We need to rethink our foreign policy when it makes us less safe by promoting hatred towards us and more acts of terrorism against us. |

American Dental Association? American Disabilities Act? I need a link!) I've found a half dozen different organizations that measure this sort of thing and they all agree with you and the ADA. Freakin' dentists, always trying to tell you who is liberal and what toothpaste to use.
I think that is part of the disconnect between Washington and the people. She gets her liberal ratings through metrics I don't care about. Abortion, gay rights, gun control. *shrug* I just don't see those as pressing issues. Healthcare is more of a financial thing than a human rights thing for me. I can't hire as many employees because I would have to provide healthcare, which bumps their hourly rate another $3.
For me, the core issues are bringing sanity back to our taxation system, quit spending all our money and the lives of our troops in Iraq, increase government funding of food inspections and basic infrastructure. She voted in lockstep w/ Pres. Bush over the tax cuts. She not only voted to go to war with Iraq, she just recently voted to brand Iran's Revolutionary Guard as terrorists (which might be correct, but in practice what it does is give Pres. Bush the right to attack Iran). Her husband increased USDA inspectors, but nowhere near the same number that Reagan decreased them. And she doesn't seem to have a problem with the funding cuts to the Army Corps of Engineers (who are responsible for New Orleans' levees).
So, I guess I'm not the stereotypical liberal, where Hillary really is. I wonder how that changes the way I vote. Certainly, it won't make me vote Republican. Bloomberg, though...... |
