How do you know who has been rounded up and on what evidence? As soon as you step outside the law then you open the door for a lot of secret investigations and detention.

A person can be suspected and then the evidence created around those suspicions. That is why we have courts and open laws.

Personally I would much rather die defending freedom than live in fear in a totalitarian state. My Father and grandfather fought for a free country I served to keep my country free and so did my son. I am not going to throw that hard won freedom away because of a few idiots with a couple of little bombs. Hell in all the terrorist attacks round the world in the last 10 years they would be lucky to have killed 5,000 people.

Apart from causing a great deal of fear they are not very successful.

England lost over 60,000 people in the WW2 blitz and they did not give up and surrender their freedom.

If the Port of Houston is nuked, which with all the refineries and chemical plants and tank batteries nearby is a prime target, my family and I will be vaporized because of Channelview's close proximity. If these cities are bombed, there could be a death toll in the hundreds of thousands or millions. It would set off an international depression of which we may never recover. This makes it important to find out any way we can about what their plans are in advance.

You are crediting a group of the most hunted men in the history of the earth with the capability of acquiring nuclear technology sufficient to build 7 warheads then delivering into mainland USA and simultaneously detonating them in the most defended country on earth?

Man these guys really have you scared don't they, they fly a couple of planes into 2 buildings and all of a sudden they have won the war and America is terrified of them. Running round spreading rumors about how big and scary they are.

Remember the rumors about the weapons of Mass Destruction?

You guys are jumping at your own shadows. Even the Japanese managed to have the crap beaten out of them, then lose 2 cities to nukes and bounce back to build one of the greatest economies ever.

Dug, they didn't build them. According to Paul Williams, they bought suitcase nukes from Chechnyan rebels and from the Russian mafia. There are several nukes that belonged to the Soviet Union that are reported as missing. According to Paul Williams, they received technical information from Kahn of Pakistan on how to detonate and maintain these devices. There would be no problem in finding places to detonate these devices. There are not policemen on every block in this country.

Maybe all of this is a lot of hype and exaggeration, I don't know. We need to be prepared for these possibilities including dirty bombs which would not be as serious as suitcase nukes, but would still pose great dangers. Let me say that I share your libertarian views on this, but the pragmatic side of me also sees a need to find out any way we can about al Qaueda's plans. Another thing we should do is reconsider our meddling foreign policy. This policy is putting American citizens in danger of future terrorist attacks. They want us out of there. We need to have a more nuetral policy towards Israel and we need to become more energy self-sufficient. Unfortunately, Ron Paul is the only presidential candidate who is advocating these changes.
