Exclamation More Media Bias

New York Times and Washington Post Ignore Obama’s Housing Shortage
by Janet M. LaRue

Barack Hussein Obama’s half-brother, George Hussein Onyango Obama, 26, was found living in a “two metre by three metre shack” in the ramshackle town of Huruma on the outskirts of Nairobi, Africa, according to [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. and [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. . Apparently, The Washington Post and The New York Times decided it wasn’t news that’s fit to print.

The mesmerized media show no sign of stopping the margin of victory they’ve given Obama in the presidential race as [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. recently by the Media Research Center.
But, the following day Barack blasted John McCain for having too many houses. Both papers devoted liberal space to it (pun intended) including flattering photos of Obama—the one with the $1.6 million Chicago mansion—not the one with the shack, lest you’re confused about which Hussein.

And once again, neither paper mentioned Obama’s homeless brother. Nor was there any mention that McCain doesn’t have a brother living in a shack, or that the McCains acquired their houses without the help of a convicted felon.

The Post’s column, “[LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. ,” opens with Obama mocking McCain for not knowing “how many houses he owns.” According to Obama, “John McCain has seven homes.” The Post actually calls McCain’s response “damning.” “Damning”? You’d think it’s McCain’s brother who’s living in the shack. But there’s no “damning” shack attack at Barack.

The Times political blog, “Obama Counts McCain’s Houses,” includes a list of [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. , some of which are separately owned by McCain’s wife, Cindy, and mentions her estimated worth at “$35 million to $100 million.”

Neither paper mentions that shortly after her husband’s election to the U.S. Senate, [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. became vice president for external affairs at the not-for-profit hospital center where she’s employed, and received an annual salary increase from $121,910 to $316,962. So much for the Obama’s concern for lowering the cost of health care.

Both papers quoted the McCain campaign’s response to Obama: “Does a guy who made more than $4 million last year, just got back from vacation on a private beach in Hawaii and bought his own million-dollar mansion with the help of a convicted felon really want to get into a debate about houses?”

The Post doesn’t name the convicted felon as [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. , a Chicago slumlord, AKA, a shack shyster. The Times mentions how “Tony Rezko’s family helped the Obamas on the house deal,” but doesn’t confirm that Rezko is the convicted felon.

Obama tried to get his audience to identify with him: “But if you're like me, and you got one house … you might have a different perspective.” I’m guessing the other Hussein does.

Obama referred back to last Saturday night’s [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. at Saddleback Church when John McCain mentioned that rich might be defined as somebody making $5 million dollars. According to tax records, [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. “household income jumped from $991,296 in 2006 to $4.2 million in 2007,” mostly from his two best-selling books.

Could somebody at the Times or Post dial up the Obama campaign, and ask what if anything Barack intends to do about his brother living in a hovel on a $1 a month? Obama constantly mentions that poverty is a big issue for him, so the question shouldn’t be one of those “distractions” he regularly dodges. What could be more relevant in light of Obama’s outrageous criticism of America at the forum as he lamented its failure to address poverty:

“America’s greatest moral failure in my lifetime has been that we still don’t abide by that basic precept in Matthew that whatever you do for [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. , you do for me, and that notion of -- that basic principle applies to poverty.”

A presidential candidate living in a glass mansion who has a brother in a shack shouldn’t be throwing rocks at his opponent because he has too many houses. The same Gospel quoted by Obama condemns the hypocrisy of trying to remove a speck in your brother’s eye without removing the log in your own.

And one more question for Obama. How is it that John and Teresa Heinz Kerry’s great wealth and [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. didn’t dampen Obama’s support for Kerry in 2004?

George Obama told his interviewers that “he was [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. for 10 years, including when Sen. Obama visited Nairobi two years ago.” Obama mentioned George in his autobiography, describing him briefly as a “beautiful boy with a rounded head.” He doesn’t mention George’s homelessness.

The Times says, “Obama campaign workers have fanned out in various battleground states to ask voters if they remember how many homes they own. Among the states are Pennsylvania and Florida.”

There’s no chance Obama’s workers will be fanning out to the outskirts of Nairobi, but the Times and Post should ask Obama if he’s going, unless they think a housing surplus matters more than a character deficit.

Maybe McCain needs to give one of his 7 mansions to Obama's half brother.

Obama's connections in the Muslim world are for more well heeled than John McCain. Maybe that Iraqi billionaire, who made the purchase of Obama's mansion possible, could do something similar for George. He better hurry though! George's rounded head won't stay that way using a rock for a pillow.

Politico Pushes Palin Inexperience Criticism Citing Obama-backing Historians
By Ken Shepherd
August 30, 2008 - 22:34 ET

Furthering the Obama campaign's complaints about McCain running mate Gov. Sarah Palin's (R-Alaska) inexperience, Politico's Fred Barbash and David Mark turned to presidential historians for comment, who panned the wisdom of McCain's pick.

Yet as an e-mail tipster to NewsBusters pointed out, two of the historians critical of Palin's "lack of experience" donated money to Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign. Our tipster was too generous.

When I went to check out at about 10 p.m., I found the following update appended to their August 30 article, "[LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. .":
UPDATE: After reading this article, the McCain campaign issued the following statement: "The authors quote four scholars attacking Gov. Palin's fitness for the office of vice president. Among them, David Kennedy is a maxed-out Obama donor, Joel Goldstein is also an Obama donor, and Doris Kearns Goodwin has donated exclusively to Democrats this cycle. Finally, Matthew Dallek is a former speech writer for Dick Gephardt. This is not a story about scholars questioning Gov. Palin's credentials so much as partisan Democrats who would find a reason to disqualify or discount any nominee put forward by Sen. McCain."

That update came at the very end of the article. As of publication of this blog post, no teaser has been placed before the article's first paragraph to clue readers into the information that may well point to a conflict of interest among the consulted scholars.

A simple search of the [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. would yield the information the McCain campaign sent Politico's editors, and most certainly could have been found in minutes if not seconds doing a simple online query by the reporters themselves.

I've learned more about Sarah Palin, through the MSM, in the last two days than I learned about Obama, through the MSM, in the last year and a half.

This kind of cr*p is way over the edge. The MSM has no conscience and no morals whatsoever. The worst part was listening to a reporter praise Obama for being above it all by declaring that the children of candidates are off limits. It's his surrogates and his backers doing it. I know, I know, guilt by association.

Us Magazine Launches Tabloid Style Attack On Sarah Palin
By Terry Trippany
September 3, 2008

Word is out that [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. and Us Weekly Magazine publisher Jann Wenner is using his magazine to smear Governor Sarah Palin from grocery store check out aisles and newsstands across the country.

The [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. hypes the ridiculously [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. of the Huffington Post that Sarah Palin ridiculed State Senate President Lyda Green in an interview with radio talk show host Bob Lester on the popular [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. .

On January 15, Alaska governor Sarah Palin laughed along with an Alaskan shock-jock DJ who called her political rival Lyda Green a "cancer," a "b#@ch" and ridiculed her weight. (Green is a cancer survivor.)

The Us magazine cover story is filed under the URL slug "sarah-palin-very-difficult-to-work-with". This particular smear job on Sarah Palin was literally spoon fed to the magazine and bloggers on the left [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. that featured a [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. that was edited to take Governor Palin out of context and make the incident sound worse than it really was. ([LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. )
The claim is that Palin should be held responsible for the comments made by morning radio host Bob Lester as he interviewed the Alaska Governor about Senate President Lyda Green's animosity toward her. In that interview Lester called Green "a cancer" for standing in the way of Alaska's political progress as well as "a bit@#". In all instances Palin appeared to be caught off guard and gave a short laugh while Lester continued to criticize Green.

But that synopsis left to stand on its own is woefully out of context. It doesn't explain why the media suddenly loves a socially conservative Republican insider that opposed reform nor does it honestly portray Sarah Palin's conduct in the interview.

The interview focused around Lyda Green's attempt to delay the start of the Senate's legislative session to coincide with the start time of Sarah Palin's state of the state address. A month earlier Palin had requested and received approval from the House for a special 6:00 p.m. start time so that she could attend her son Track's Army boot camp graduation to the infantry. Green was well aware of this fact and appeared to be stonewalling as some sort of plan to make life difficult for Governor Palin. This became evident as the excuses for not being able to make the 1:00 p.m. scheduled start of the Senate legislative session began to fall apart. All of this was explained by Palin in [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. .

Lester specifically took Green to task for standing in the way of a mother's attempt to attend the graduation of her son before potentially being deployed to Iraq. He further criticized Green for playing games with Alaska's political process for the sake of making life difficult for Palin.

The Alaska Daily News substantiates the rift between Palin and Green. According to their report much of the animosity between the two stemmed from the fact that Green was [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. . It seems that Green made it a point to take issue with Palin, which she apparently did often and [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. . Thus making Green an instant hero of the American left that has suddenly found all sorts of reason to defend and support a Republican insider. In the case of Us Magazine their hit job is framed within the context of Green's perspective. She how this works?

Green appeared in the Us Magazine article to specifically take pot shots at Governor Palin and criticize John McCain's vetting process. You can actually feel the cynicism when Green mentions that Sarah Palin personally called her to apologize.

Green's comments were followed up by quotes from a pro-abortion activist from NOW that conveniently attacked Palin on the issue of abstinence because her daughter is pregnant.

So what did Green think when she heard Palin was John McCain's vice presidential candidate? "It's been very difficult to work with her," she tells Us Weekly. "I wish there had been more vetting."

Monday, Palin released a statement confirming that her daughter Bristol, 17, was five-months pregnant.

Mom-of-five Palin is antiabortion (even in cases of rape) and opposed to sex-education classes (she believes in abstinence instruction for teens). In the wake of the announcement about Bristol, questions have begun to arise about the governor's candor and McCain's judgment (The New York Times reported that McCain's camp vetted Palin only the day before her selection was announced.

"It's conceivable a 17-year-old girl just screwed the GOP," Democratic strategist George Lakoff tells Us Weekly.

Though hailed by many family-values supporters for standing by her daughter during her difficult time, Barbara Belknap, former president of the National Organization of Women's Juneau chapter, is less glowing: "Here's a textbook case of how abstinence - only doesn't work in practice, even if your mom's the governor."

Yes, and here is a textbook case of political activism being perpetrated upon the American public [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. .

Us Magazine reaches about 12 million readers, most of whom are female. As a grocery checkout aisle fixture it will be seen by many more. Wenner, who is [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. and Mens Journal is well aware of this. It is only a matter of time before this twisted reality makes its way into one if not both of his other publications.

So it's ok for a 911 truther like Corsi to do a hatchet job on Obama? I detect a double standard here.
