Christian Terrorists?

At a speech to a church convention Obama blames Evangelical leaders for exploiting and politicizing religious belief, saying that Christianity got "Hijacked."

As subtle as the remark was, it was not lost on me that he used the same terminology to describe Christian Evangelicals as was used to describe the fanatical Islamic terrorists whose mission it is to destroy western culture by any means necessary.

It's my belief that it's the liberal denominations, such as the one that Obama belongs to, that have hijacked Christianity. These "If It Feels Good, Do It" denominations will accept almost any perverse and immoral behavior, contrary to the teachings of the Bible, in order to build their congregations and rake in the dough.

Sounds strangely like the Democratic Party.

"Obama believes that states should decide whether to allow gay marriage, and he opposes a [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. against it." I call the Wussy Card! This sounds perfectly positioned exactly like Cheney's position. [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. . Why is it so horrible when Cheney says it, but it is totally wonderful when Obama says the exact same thing?

Doesn't an accusation require supporting evidence?
"Somehow, somewhere along the way, faith stopped being used to bring us together and started being used to drive us apart. It got hijacked,"
It seems to me he's making this up. A "hijacking" is an event that can be pinpointed to a specific time and specific individuals. "Somehow, somewhere" doesn't cut it. This accusation is in Obama's head, I'm afraid, unless he's talking about a development that is so very recent that we don't see it, yet.

If Obama said that the Masons were "hijacked" by the Bavarian Illuminati, I could do research and find arguments to support such a claim. Specific events and persons can be identified. But here I think he's just making assumptions and he is trying to appeal to the atheist crowd that holds the imaginary principle of "separation of church and state" gets all offended by "In God We Trust" and "One Nation Under God". Pandering to an atheist is as easy as shooting fish in a barrel. If Obama wants to see what a hostile takeover of politics looks like, then why doesn't he look at the "Islamic Republic" of anywhere else in the world?

I found this Cheney quote from a long time ago. I feel it needs to be remembered in the context of Obama's recent generalizations.

Cheney: Values are important. They are an inherent part of the debate about where we want to take the country in the years ahead. But it's important to handle values in a way that does not convey an attitude of intolerance. The Democrats are likely to do everything they can to portray Republicans as intolerant of others, and when that happens, we lose the edge in the debate, as we did in '92. We have to find ways to talk about values that are inclusive, and are seen as generous and enlightening. We cannot let ourselves be perceived as having a message of hate or lack of respect for those who differ with our views.

It looks to me like Obama is using the same old plays from the same old playbook. Cheney was talking about this tactic nearly fifteen years ago. I'll bet we soon see the tables turn as far as who can be portrayed as having a message of hate and lack of respect. Da mn, I wish Cheney could run...

Now, that's the truth if I ever heard the truth. I remember going to a church that my sister goes to not long ago and they had electric guitars, running around waving flags, and basically having a good party really, I was like this is ridiculous anymore. The best way to destroy Christianity is to infiltrate it and dilute it to partying, etc. They are winning on doing that to be sure.

Yea, Cheney running would be interesting, but I doubt he would get anywhere due to his well-known heart/health issues UNLESS he had one really good Vice-President. Either way, ANYBODY BUT HILLARY!
