| | | PMSNBC is reporting that James Johnson, Barack Obama's Vice Presidential vetter has stepped down from his position on the Obama VP selection committee. Johnson was involved in the Fannie Mae Corp. problems and receiced sweetheart loan deals from Countrywide which is one of the company's that Obama blames for the mortgage crisis.
Barack Obama has an uncanny ability to make friends with people with deep ideological and philosophical differences. This must make it easier for him to claim later that "these were not the people I knew."
I recall an old saying that went; "Show me who your friends are, and I'll show you who you are."
This saying needs to be revised for the Obama campaign. "Show me who his friends are, and I'll show you guilt by association." |

Just like McCain's association with Keating and Hagee. |

| | | zennie2005.blogspot.com — John McCain pointed to Jim Johnson for getting a loan from Countrywide Financial, forcing Johnson to step down from Obama's VP Committee. Now, we find that John McCain has gotten donations directly from Countrywide CEO Angelo Mozila. McCain has not returned the donation.
Maybe John McCain is the Wizard of Duhs. | | Remove This Ad By Registering. Join Our Hillary For President Forum For Free. Sponsored Links: | |

| | | Do you even think about what you're writing Herb. Maybe you should go back to surfing the liberal rags.
Barack Obama made a big deal about mortgage lenders, accusing them of predatory lending and other questionable lending practices. He specifically singled out Countrywide. Then he hires (?) James Johnson, former employee of the troubled Fannie Mae who received sweetheart loan deals from Countrywide. As big an hypocrisy as accusing the Clintons of playing the race card while his pastor of 20 years is God dam*ing America and the US of KKK A.
As for McCain and Keating. John McCain has acknowledged he made a mistake. Something Obama has refused to do. Hagee has endorsed McCain just like the Klan has endorsed Ron Paul and sent him contributions. Hagee is not McCain's pastor and McCain hasn't spent twenty years in his church listening to his preaching. Yet he denounced what Hagee said before Obama denounced Wright.
As for the donations from Countrywide, McCain has no reason to return them. It wasn't McCain who specifically fingered them as predatory lenders so there is no conflict of interest.
As for the title of "Wizard of Duhs" Herb, you've got my vote. |

| | You're so obnoxious, nohil-billy. Why do you keep attacking Obama on guilt by association? You should know by now that I find that very irrelevant. There are plenty of areas to attack him on that is much more relevant such as his domestic agenda. My vote goes to you as the Wizard of Duhs. |

| | | Dean: McCain Running ‘Sleazy’ Campaign
Thursday, June 12, 2008 1:24 PM By: Rick Pedraza
Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean says presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain is “running a campaign that is, frankly, pretty sleazy.”
Dean has been hitting the McCain campaign particularly hard lately for its ties to lobbyists and blames the McCain camp for leaking the James Johnson story to a reporter at “The Washington Post.”
In an interview on MSNBC, Dean says soon-to-be Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama’s image is no way tarnished for having selected Johnson, the former Fannie Mae CEO, to the team vetting the process of choosing vice presidential candidates for Obama.
The front page story (“Obama’s Choice of Insider Draws Fire”) appeared Tuesday criticizing Obama’s decision to select Johnson. The article questioned Johnson’s past personal loan deals and involvement in the mortgage crisis. Johnson resigned Wednesday as a result of the article.
“I had to laugh when I saw that headline,” Dean says, noting it will in no way hurt Obama’s chances of running a good general election campaign and winning the White House in November.
“It’s a silly article, but you get silly articles from time to time in politics,” he says.
“I suspect the McCain people called ‘The Post’ and got the reporter to write an ‘interesting’ article about this stuff. But the truth is Barack Obama hasn’t taken any money from lobbyists or special interests.”
Dean defends Johnson as a capable guy who’s been vetting vice presidents for a while, including for former presidential candidates John Kerry and Walter Mondale. Johnson, he points out, was not on Obama’s payroll as an adviser and is not a donator or lobbyist to Obama’s campaign.
“John McCain’s campaign is being run by lobbyists,” he chides. “He’s got lobbyists crawling out of every corner of his campaign: they donate money to him. Barack Obama doesn’t take money from lobbyists.”
Dean says McCain’s camp planted the story to show Obama’s lack of judgment in making his first key appointment.
First of all, “he’s not a key appointment; he’s a guy who was doing a volunteer job,” Dean clarifies.
“It’s trench warfare – that’s part of the deal – but it’s a pretty silly article considering McCain’s history” [of accepting money from lobbyists and special interests].
“Not one dime of lobbyist money has gone into Barack Obama’s campaign,” emphasizes Dean. “Not one dime of special interest money” either.
“Let’s have the Republican National Committee do what the Democratic National Committee did, which is not to take money from lobbyists,” Dean says reproachfully.
“Let’s see the Republicans do that. Then they can start [planting] articles like this. Let’s have John McCain not take any more money from special interests and lobbyists. When he does that, then we can discuss Jim Johnson’s volunteer background.”
