"Had enough of the Bill Ayers pseudo-scandal? Me too, but it just sparked an exchange between Cass Sunstein and David Frum that is too jaw-droppingly silly not to mention.
First -- this isn't the silly part -- Sunstein [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. in The New Republic:
Ayers is one of numerous people, in the Chicago area, whom Barack Obama has run across. Obama has much closer relationships with numerous conservatives on the University of Chicago faculty, many of whom have given money to Obama's campaign, and many of whom have talked to him at length and been at social occasions with him.
I know for a fact that Obama has actually played basketball with Richard Epstein, a libertarian on the law school faculty who has written some pretty controversial things on property rights and government regulation. I also know that Obama has had a number of conversations with former law school dean Daniel Fischel, a Reagan Republican who has written some pretty controversial things on corporations and government regulation.
Sounds like a reasonable point to make. But [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. :
Obama himself has equated Ayers' record of treason and violence to the intemperate talk of Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn. Now Cass Sunstein goes further still - and compares unrepentant domestic terrorism to libertarian theorizing!
The point of Sunstein's comments, obviously, is not to "equate" Epstein with Ayers, just as the point of Obama's earlier comments, obviously, was not to "equate" Ayers with Coburn. The point is that Obama associates with a lot of very different people and that it's foolish to assume his loose connections to one of them define his politics. Serving on the same board as Bill Ayers doesn't make Obama sympathetic to Marxist terrorism any more than shooting hoops with Epstein makes him a libertarian."
The above quote comes from the libertarian blog, Reason.com.

So lets open up some memory on this website by deleting all of the pictures posted of the Clintons with suspected ne'er-do-wells. What's good for the goose...
80+ people died that were associated with the Clinton's? Coincidence!!!
This guilt by association thing works real well when you spread it around evenly.
How many people have died who were associated with Obama or McCain? That's what I'm talking about when you have two liberals and one has so much more baggage than the other. If I'm going to vote for one of them because I don't like McCain's foreign policy, then the choice is simple.
You used the magic word there Herb. Associated!!! Until you can prove to me that the Clinton's did it - with a Candlestick - in the Library, then there's no point in going any further. It is simply guilt by association.
If you looked at the facts about Obama, his mindset, his associates, his church, his lack of specifics about anything.... you would come to the same conclusion I have. Obama's baggage is getting heavier every day. But you have such a blind hatred for Hillary that you can't see the forest for the trees.
So if you can vote for Hillary's taller and darker identical twin and call it a simple choice, you're only kidding yourself.
Just look at the facts. There is no proof that Hillary or Bill killed any of these people, but just the fact that so many people who had connections with them dies under suspicious circumstances does raise an eyebrow. I could go into all the suspicious details, but it would take too much space and I'm sure your're aware of all those details, nohil-billy, or alot of them. There is no list of bodies that have any connection with Obama or McCain. Is this just coincidence that there would be 80 bodies (your number) connected with the Clintons and none with Obama and McCain? This alone leads me to the conclusion that Obama isn't nearly as corrupt as Hillary.
"If you looked at the facts about Obama, his mindset"
What is his mindset?
"his associates"
He also has libertarian and conservative associates. Does that mean he is a libertarian or a conservative? Or are we only to look at the leftist aqaintances and make our judgement of him on that basis?
"his church"
For the umpteenth time: guilt by association.
"his lack of specifics about anything"
Oh, that must prove he's guilty! His silence proves his guilt.
"But you have such a blind hatred for Hillary that you can't see the forest for the trees."
My eyes are wide open and I have not seen any evidence that would suggest to me that Obama comes anywhere near the corruption of Bill and Hillary. If I did, I would be just as opposed to him as I am to the Clintons.
"So if you can vote for Hillary's taller and darker identical twin and call it a simple choice, you're only kidding yourself."
It is a simple choice for me to vote for Obama over a crook like Hillary and a warmonger like McCain. No, I don't like his liberalism, but we just don't have a great choice among the three.

You are correct, sir! Obama is all words, fluff, and con!!
Guess if I went to a KKK clan meeting in a white sheet, and then covered my ears during the meeting, then I would be OK!!
Barrack Obama began his political career at a fundraiser in the living room of William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn in 1995. Bill Ayers kept no secrets about his activities with the domestic terrorist group Weather Underground and often bragged about his exploits. At the age of 33, I think Barrack Obama was old enough to see the elephant (terrorist) in the living room and he no doubt knew the story. Six years later on 9/11, Mr. Ayers again bragged that he didn't do enough when refering to his own terrorist acts.
Barrack Obama now wants us to believe that his association with Bill Ayers is simply neighborhood casual and that he should not be held accountable for something that happened when he was 8 years old. Well I disagree. At the ages of 33, 39, and now 46, Mr Obama was, and still is, acting like a stubborn and naive 8 year old refusing to disavow the words and actions of his buddy. To me, this shows disrespect toward the victims, the government, and the very people Mr. Obama wants to lead.
He can insinuate that this is guilt by association, but to paraphrase Bill O'Reilly, At some point you need to get up and leave the room.

And perhaps McCain should also disassociate himself with the seedy people he's also been connected with. Again, it is silly guilt by association. Is that all O'reilly, Coulter, Hannity, and Rush can come up with? Why don't they attack him on the issues. This attacking Obama on the basis of his aquaintances can never convince me to vote for McCain over Obama.
It would probably be a lot easier to attack him on the issues if anybody knew where he stood on anything.
So far the only thing I know about Obama is his willingness to sit down and talk with Kim Jong Il, Hugo Chavez, Mamoud Amadinijad, and any other tin pot terrrorist dictator out there. But I guess he's gotta go with what he knows. Who knows, maybe he'll launch his re-election campaign.
Herb, I just found this column by Hugh Hewitt on townhall.com which better explains where I'm coming from and what O'Reilly meant. Being a typical Obama supporter I know you'll dismiss it as another attack by the right wing, but it does show why Obama's "guilt by association defense" won't satisfy the electorate.
