Thumbs up Hillary?s Last, Best Chance For The Oval Office

By Hugh HewittHillary keeps the heat on Obama:"I don't think he really gets it that people are looking for a president who stands up for you and not looks down on you," Clinton said. "After seven years of Americans feeling invisible to this president, President Bush, it's time that we level the playing field and [...]

There's a good point in this article and it's what I've been saying all along. Hillary has no reason to get out of this race as long as Obama doesn't have the required delegates and that won't happen until the convention. Anything, if not his mouth, can take him down. He has begun to show his arrogance and elitism.

His remarks about small town Americans was his John Kerry in Ohio "Can I get me a huntin' license here?" moment. We now know what he thinks about the average American.

Actually, the Democratic leadership is trying to get the superdelegates to vote in June so the nominee will be chosen before the convention. I expect the majority of the superdelegates to vote for Obama for the following reasons: 1. Obama will have the most pledged delegates and the majority of superdelegates will not go against the will of the Democratic voters. They know there could be a riot on their hands if they did. 2. Obama generates enthusiasm wheras Hillary doesn't. 3. The superdelegates know that Hillary on the ticket will bring the Republicans out in droves and will not only cause them to lose the Presidential contest, but also will cause them to lose control of Congress.

If Hillary were to win the nomination which she can only do by persuading enough superdelegates to vote for her, she would cause so much resentment in the Democratic Party because the Obama supporters would feel that the nomination was taken from them by the Democratic bigwigs. I suspect that a sizeable number of them wouldn't vote or would vote for McCain rather than Hillary. It would very well end up with Hillary losing in a landslide.

It doesn't matter if the super delegates commit to a candidate in June or last November. Until their vote is cast at the convention they can change their minds. Nothing is etched in stone until after the convention. Hillary will not quit until the required amount of delegates is reached.

At some point she's got to realize she's been licked (get your mind out of the gutter) and give up. If Obama has all the delegates needed for the nomination and Hillary keeps up the fight to change delegates' minds all the way into the convention, she will really make a fool of herself and will be seen as extremely divisive and will hurt her chances of getting the nomination in 4 more years unless she really believes in spite of all her claims that Obama can't win that he really will win if nominated. In that case she might keep at it if she believes this is her last chance to become president. Who knows what goes on in the mind of this woman?

Herb--I sincerely believe the "hank" because of her "powermad obsession" will not drop out of the race for a long time. I believe that she sees herself in the position that bill was in. He was last in the race of candidates, and no one thought he would win and look what happened. As long as she thinks she has a shot she will stay in. She, unlike Gore will not admit defeat. At this point she is not below doing anything to win the race.

It is my fear that she will return in four years, and if this crop of candiates is any indication of her competition, we are in trouble.
