Arrow GOP Candidates Not Sure What To Say About Bush

[ LOS ANGELES, May 2 — As they gather Thursday night at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library for their first debate, the Republican presidential candidates are thrilled at the chance to associate themselves with Reagan. But they may not be able to escape the challenge created for them by the current president.

As much as Iraq or health care or any other issue, the question of how to deal with President Bush is vexing the Republican field. Do they embrace him as a means of appealing to the conservative voters who tend to decide Republican primaries? Or do they break from him in an effort to show that they will lead the nation in a new direction? Do they applaud his policies or question his competence — or both? ]

WiseOne's Comments, it will be interesting to see what they say about Bush to say the least, will they hang him out to dry due to the low poll numbers, or will they stand by him in his time of need? Hmmm, Just MHO

I believe they will agree that it was nescessary to go to war but will acknowledge that it was not executed as well as it should have been. There is a lot of good news coming out about "the surge" that the main stream media has avoided talking about. All of them could point out the positives which would pacify most conservative elements. They all need to point out the dangerous politicing of the democratically run congress so people can understand that these democrats are not worried about our armed forces, but only about their political and socialist amibitions.

I don't think we'll any of them cozying up to Bush and I don't think we'll see him attending too many fundraisers. And I'm not sure that I blame them, I don't have a lot of respect for Bush. He really isn't a conservative, a middle of the road Dem is more like it.

I see George Bush as a man of conviction who will not hesitate to kick a little a*s if the situation warrants. His downfall has been his inability to express himself coherently from the bully pulpit and his failure to point out the highlights of his administration which has been homeland security and the economy. He is a true social conservative caught in a catch 22 with his base over immigration, but both the left and the right would benefit from a comprehensive immigration plan.

The left from future minority voters, and the right from cheap labor which will hold the line on inflation and allow us to compete in a global economy where almost everybody else can do it cheaper than we can.

If you look over his administrations policies over the last six years, you will find that he has toed the conservative line over 90% of the time.
