New Polls Show Obama the Stronger Candidate Against McCain

A new Survey USA poll shows that Obama would beat McCain in electoral votes of 280 to 258. In select individual states: Iowa - Obama would beat McCain by 17 points, McCain would beat Hillary by 9 points.
Virginia: - Obama would beat McCain by 6 points, McCain would beat Hillary 48 to 45.
Wisconsin: Obama leads by double digits, McCain would beat Hillary 49 to 42.
Pennsyvania: Even though Hillary currently leads Obama in Pennsylvania because he's just started to campaign there, Obama leads McCain by double digits while McCain leads Hillary in a close race.
North Dakota: Obama beats McCain 46 to 42, but McCain beats Hillary 54 to 35. Democrats havn't carried North Dakota since LBJ won it in his landslide victory against Goldwater in 1964. And North Dakota doesn't have a large black population either.
Obama is also close in the following states:
Texas - McCain 47, Obama 46
Florida - McCain 47, Obama 45
North Carolina - McCain 47, Obama 45
South Carolina - McCain 48, Obama 45
Nearly every state west of the Mississippi could be in play.

Other recent polls: Abc/Washington Post - Obama has a 12% lead over McCain.
Diageo/Hotline Poll: Obama beats McCain 48 to 40, whereas McCain beats Hillary 48 to 40.
Reuters/Zogby: Obama leads McCain by 7 points, but McCain beats Hillary by 12 points.

The super delegates need to take all this into consideration and vote for the candidate who has the best chance of winning in November and not let the monster steal the nomination.

The race for the Democratic nomination is becoming more unpredictable every day. So much dirt is being dug up about Obama's associations with domestic terrorists and racist preachers that he's starting to make Hillary look mild by comparison.

The Democratic party seems to be imploding while the two sides cannibalize each other. I've never had this much fun.

But seriously, I believe those polls will change as more and more dirt gets dug up about both candidates. This is going to get ugly. Wouldn't it be funny if after the primaries neither Hillary or Obama was a viable candidate and Al Gore got drafted at the convention?

Obama is gaining on Hillary in the superdelegate count. Hillary leads 249 to 212. In spite of Hillary stopping Obama's momentum with her win in Texas and Ohio, since then, 9 superdelegates have committed to Obama but only 1 to Hillary. Obama is expected to end up with around 150 more pledged delegates than Hillary. In order for Hillary to overcome that, she would have to win 70% of the remaining 334 superdelegates.

Hillary's claim that superdelegates and pledged delegates should switch and support her because she won Ohio is spurious. Polls show that Obama does as well or better in Ohio against McCain than Hillary does. He also does as well or better in Pennsylvania against McCain than Hillary does even though Hillary currently has a lead in that state. Even if Hillary gains 10 delegates over Obama in Pennsylvania, he can make that up in the next two states which should go for him, North Carolina and North Dakota.

Another poll to add to the recent polls I mentioned above is the Des Moine Register Poll which shows that in Iowa, Obama would beat McCain 53 to 36 while McCain would beat Hillary 49 to 40.

Dick Morris also believes that Obama will end up with 150 more pledged delegates than Hillary. If Florida and Michigan have do-overs, the most Hillary will gain on Obama, he believes, is 20 delegates leaving her still short about 130 delegates. He said for her to overcome that lead would be to capture the remaining superdelegates by a 2 to 1 margin over Obama. He believes she will try to steal the nomination, but he believes her chances of doing that are slim.

It really is going to be a colorful convention in Denver, isn't it? I would not want to be in that arena when the delegates cast their votes. Could it possibly not be pure chaos?

It may turn out to be the equivalent of the Pistons or Bulls winning the NBA title if she's able to screw Obama out of the nomination. Every major city in this country better have every cop available on duty that night.

And I agree, I wouldn't want to be in that arena or, for that matter, within 100 miles of Denver.
