Barr is Alternative to Big Spending Republicans and Democrats

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) told reporters that a vote for Bob Barr is a vote for Barack Obama. Dave Weigel from reason[LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This No Hillary For President Forum Link. :
When I asked what he thought of the idea that a Barr vote would shock the GOP into reforming itself (in a more libertarian direction, one assumes), Boehner flashed a get-real kind of smile. “A vote for Bob Barr—you might as well vote for Barack Obama. If you want to throw your vote away, that’s fine. But that’s what it would be.”
Russ Verney, Bob Barr 2008 Campaign Manager, shared with me his reaction to Boehner’s remarks: “The Republican Party is all out of hope and is filling up on fear. Rep. Boehner wants people to vote for Senator McCain out of fear. That’s a poor strategy. It’s unfortunate that he doesn’t believe his candidate is worthy of the voluntary support of the voters. I can understand his dilemma.
The Republicans and Democrats don’t want voters to have a choice because if millions of people voted for a candidate who wanted to cut government spending and taxes, the Republicans and Democrats would have to do the thing they hate the most, cut government spending.
In 1994 the Republicans proposed the Contract With America specifically to appeal to the 20 million 1992 Perot voters. Welfare reform in 1996 was accomplished because both the Republicans and Democrats wanted to appeal to the Perot voters. The federal budget was temporarily balanced by 1998 by President Clinton, not because it was good public policy but in a direct effort to appeal to the Perot voters.
Rep. Boehner would rather coerce people into voting for someone they do not want through fear tactics so that the Republicans and Democrats do not have to change their runaway spending habits. After all if they have no dissent from the voters over a big spending Republican and a bigger spending Democrat, they are free to argue over whose special interests get the benefits of our hard earned tax dollars.
I think if the public is happy with the direction our country is headed then they should thank the Republicans and the Democrats. If they want a change, their only option is Bob Barr.
If the public is content passing on a $9 trillion dollar tax burden, in the form of our national debt, to our children and grandchildren, they should thank the Republicans and Democrats. If they want a change, they should vote for Bob Barr.
But under no condition should the voters cast their vote for someone out of fear.”
