Bloomberg Might Run as an Independent

Newmax.com is speculating, judging from all the trips to other cities in the country, that he may be gearing up for a run for President as an independent. There is even talk that former conservative Democrat governor of Oklahoma, David Boren, who is now president of Oklahoma University will be his running mate. Does anybody know what his views are and which candidate, Republican or Democrat would he take the most votes from? Polls show that the public wants a Democrat president, but they don't want Hillary. Lots of Democrats have said they would vote for Giuliani before they would vote for Hillary. I suspect that if the race is between Thompson, Hillary, and Bloomberg, there may be a lot of Democrats who would vote for Hillary over Thompson, would vote for Bloomberg if he were in the race. Bloomberg could help Thompson by taking away votes from Hillary.

I see it that way too Herb. Bloomberg was originally a democrat, then a Republican, and now an Independent, but I think he leans liberal and would probably hurt any democrat should he run as an Independent.

Now this!!! If Nader gets into the race it could become a three-way race for the liberal vote.

Hillary was asked what she thought about a possible Bloomberg vote. She said "No comment!" This article is in hillaryproject.com. The article also points out that Bloomberg would probably hurt the Democrats because of his socially liberal views. He is also green. He may do to Hillary what Perot did to Bush and Dole. Democrats better be thinking about nominating a more popular candidate. There are too many Democrats that don't like her and would love to have another candidate to vote for. Otherwise, they would vote for Hillary and hold their noses before they would vote for a Republican.

They will eventually ask him which candidiate is better, the Democrat or the Republican? If he answers, I'd dump him.

I wouldn't worry about the Perot voters if Democrats put Hillary on our ballots. I think we will see the horror of our ambitions and keep quiet as if we never existed. Bloomberg will absolutely take votes from Democrats. Perot voters are a little bit wiser in the threat of this beast born from the Reform Party's creation.

WOW, either way this is turning out to be quite interesting. I STILL believe Hillary WILL get the nominations, now it all depends on who can take her votes away and stop her. Yes, Bloomberg will take away votes from Hillary, as will Giuliani, but if Fred Thompson runs, it will change the whole deal...hmmmmm, man this is getting more interesting by the day! Bloomberg has a LOT of money, but so did George Soros trying to pay for moveon.org, LOL...didn't help.

Katie was on CBS last night talking up the story. Her story said that 40% of voters consider themselves independent and there are conditions for a third party to emerge. This is going to be so funny to see Hillary attacking the independents. She must attack independents because Bill debated Ross Perot and people will not understand why Hillary won't debate an independent. If independents are not allowed a third candidate, then independents will be antagonized with the Democrats who attack them and lose elections anyway.

I don't know about you guys, but I think this is going to be funny. Democrats are going to lose a state's electoral votes to a third candidate in 2008 and there is nothing that Hillary 2008 can do to stop it except drop out before she wins the nomination. Her best case scenario is to be vice-president. Independent voter rage will play a big part in the devastation of the Democratic party that we will see after 2008's votes are counted.

I disagree with Katie about one of her points. Who needs 40% to determine the outcome of the election? These things are decided by a couple hundred votes. Independents only need 4% (not 40%) to be blamed for the determination of who wins the White House in 2008. Those 4% are the same Perot voters who voted to re-elect George Bush to a second term in the White House, so Hillary is screwed.

QUESTION:
If Soros's money doesnt help Republicans because it is spent against Republicans...
And if Soros's money doesn't help Democrats because Democrats lose the election anyway....
Then does Soros's money excite the political system enough that it ultimately helps Independents and Third Parties?

I wish I could ask Rush this question, but I'd never get him to hear it. He probably wouldn't answer me without a healthy dose of abuse, but I would welcome it just to learn what he thinks. He says the Democrats are a dying party and that's what I was concluding immediately before I started listening to him recently.
